Prayer to St Roch (Protector against infectious diseases)

O Blessed St Roch, Patron of the sick, look with mercy on those who suffer illness. Your power was so great when you were in this world, that by the sign of the Cross, many were healed of their diseases. Now that you are in heaven, your power is no less. Offer to God our intentions and tears and obtain for us the physical and spiritual health we seek. This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

St Roch: Pray for us, that we may be relieved from all diseases of body and soul.

Thanksgiving after Holy Communion

I adore you present in me, Incarnate Word, only-begotten Son and splendour of the Father, born of Mary. I thank you, sole Master and Truth, for humbling yourself in coming to me. I offer you to the Father: through you, with you, in you, may there be eternal praise, thanksgiving and supplication for peace in our world. Enlighten my mind; make me a faithful disciple of the Church; grant that I may live of faith, give me an understanding of the Scriptures. Make me your ardent apostle. Let the light of your Gospel illumine my way in the world. Amen.

A Prayer for the Synodal Pathway (as we prepare for the National Synod)

Lord of all hopefulness, as we embark on this journey together, may we listen and discern and be guided by the Holy Spirit, who constantly breathes new life into our world, our hearts, our families, homes and parishes. May renewal and reform, fresh hope and healing come for all people of God in Ireland. By virtue of our Baptism may we each play our part in transforming the Church through a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which is your gift and promise, upon our land. Grant us the encouragement we need to bring faith, hope and love in abundance to meet the challenges before us, and to fulfil the Church’s mission of proclaiming to the world God’s love and salvation in Jesus Christ. A Mhuire Mháthair, Mother of the Church, guard and guide us on our pilgrim way Amen.

Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. (St Alphonsus de Liguori)

Prayer for motorists before driving

Holy Mother Mary, hear our prayer,
Keep us in your loving care,
Whatever the perils of the way,
Let us not add to them this day.
So to our caution and attention,
We add a prayer for your protection,
To beg God’s blessing on this car,
To travel safely near and far.

Amen.
