Let us remember in our prayers today the children who were baptised in our parish in the past year, their parents and sponsors.

God’s ongoing call.

God is not afraid of new things.

That is why he is continually surprising us,

opening our hearts, minds and souls,

guiding us in unexpected ways. (Pope Francis)

My New Year Prayer.

May there be peace and joy within us this day. May we trust God that we are exactly where we are meant to be. May we not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May we use the gifts that we have received and pass on the love that has been given to us. May we be content and happy knowing that we are children of God. May his presence settle into our bones and allow our souls the freedom to sing, dance and rejoice. All of this is there for each one of us as we begin another year. Together let us step out into our world hand in hand with God our Father, with Jesus our Brother and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

A Prayer for the World.

All powerful God, you are present in the universe and in the smallest of your creatures. You embrace with your tenderness all that exists. Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty. Fill us with your peace, that we may live as true brothers and sisters, harming no one.

O God of the poor, help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth, so precious in your eyes. Bring healing to our lives that we may protect the world and not prey on it, that we may sow beauty not pollution or destruction. Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle, for justice, love and peace. Amen. (Laudato Si)
