Today is the solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). It is an opportunity for us to deepen our faith in the presence of Christ in the Eucharist, the sign of God’s eternal love for us. There will be no procession this year due to Covid-19.

Wed 9 June is the feast of St Columba (Colum Cille) 521-597, abbot and missionary, secondary patron of Ireland. He is associated with several monasteries, especially Iona.

Fri 11 June is the solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. ‘Understood in the light of the Scriptures, the term “Sacred Heart of Jesus” denotes the entire mystery of Christ: Son of God, uncreated wisdom; infinite charity, principle of the salvation and sanctification of mankind.’ (Directory on Popular Piety and the Liturgy, 166)

Sat 12 June is the memorial of The Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Ministers for the Month of June

We fully understand if some ministers may be uneasy or uncomfortable in resuming their service as Stewards or Communion Ministers. The health and wellbeing of our people will always be first priority. If for some reason you are unable to attend, that will be understood by all. If this situation arises at Mass, the help of others present in the church would be most appreciated.

Céad Míle Fáilte: We welcome you back to Mass this weekend. We are so grateful for your loyalty, your generosity and your goodness. It will be a bit different from what we were used to. The following are some of the new arrangements that we are asked to respect:

(a) The total number allowed in each church is 50.

(b) We ask you to wear a face covering inside the church, and to respect physical distancing in the church and its environs.

(c) We ask you to sanitize your hands as you enter and leave the church.

(d) We again encourage you to follow the direction of the stewards/ushers at each Mass.

(e) At the end of each Mass, we are hoping for volunteers to help in sanitizing the pews and seats. Some cloths and sanitizing liquid are available in the church. If people brought a wipe and sanitizer with them and looked after the pew they are using this would be very helpful.

(f) We remind people of mature age of the option to drive their car into Bianconi Park in Boherlahan, or to either side of the church in Dualla.

(g) We hope to have one Holy Communion Minister with the priest at each Mass.

(h) A collection box will be in the porch of the Church for collections and contributions during each Mass.

(i) We will not be availing of altar servers until a later date.

(j) Missalettes cannot be used at present due to Government safety guidelines.

(k) We ask everybody to use common sense and please God everything will work out well. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: In Boherlahan the Adoration will be in the main Church on Mondays 10.30-11.30 am and 2.00-3.00pm.

Receiving Holy Communion: We will distribute Holy Communion after each Mass. We will conclude Mass, give the final blessing and those not receiving Communion may leave starting from the back of the church. Then those who are receiving may come forward in single file and keeping physical distance. Communion will be received in the hand. The celebrant and minister of the Eucharist will wear a face covering.

Fourth Collection: This was taken up last weekend. If you were away or missed out, you may hand in your envelope at any time. Your support is greatly appreciated.

First Holy Communion and Confirmation:  The Government announced on last Thursday that these sacraments may be celebrated after July 5. At the moment consultation is ongoing between the schools and the parents. We hope to have plans finalised by next weekend.

Weekday and Weekend Masses: Masses in Boherlahan at 10.00am Mon to Fri; Dualla Mon to Fri 9.30am. Weekend Masses in both churches at the usual times.

Booking of Masses: Anniversary Masses etc. continue to be offered in both churches as usual. Bookings may be made by contacting the sacristan or either of the priests of the parish.

Dualla-Ballytarsna-Boherlahan Athletic Club: The Fit4Life programme commenced last Monday in the community field, Dualla and will continue for seven more weeks. Fit4life is a programme for all adults, whether you are a complete beginner or a regular jogging/runner. Participants are grouped by ability for training sessions allowing runners/walkers to train at an appropriate level. There is progression from walking to jogging to running. No previous experience is needed.

Prayer to St Roch (Protector against infectious diseases)

O Blessed St Roch, Patron of the sick, look with mercy on those who suffer illness. Your power was so great when you were in this world, that by the sign of the Cross, many were healed of their diseases. Now that you are in heaven, your power is no less. Offer to God our intentions and tears and obtain for us the physical and spiritual health we seek. This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. St Roch: Pray for us, that we may be relieved from all diseases of body and soul.
