The theme for the week is taken from the Gospel of St. Luke: “You shall love the Lord your God…and your neighbour as yourself”. This week reminds Christians worldwide about the importance of praying for the fruits of closer communion with our brothers and sisters in Christ and greater solidarity with the whole of creation.

God’s ongoing call.

God is not afraid of new things.

That is why he is continually surprising us,

opening our hearts, minds and souls,

guiding us in unexpected ways. (Pope Francis)

So let us enter the New Year with an abundance of hope because he will walk every step of the journey with us.

My New Year Prayer.

May there be peace and joy within us this day. May we trust God that we are exactly where we are meant to be. May we not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May we use the gifts that we have received and pass on the love that has been given to us. May we be content and happy knowing that we are children of God. May his presence settle into our bones and allow our souls the freedom to sing, dance and rejoice. All of this is there for each one of us as we begin another year. Together let us step out into our world hand in hand with God our Father, with Jesus our brother and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
