The Challenge of Lent:

  1. Personal: Are there some things I could do better in living the Christian life? Lent invites us to try new and good ways.
  2. Community: How do I treat the people I live with, work with, neighbours and friends?
  3. Spiritual: Will I make a better effort at prayer, going to Mass and helping the poor of our world?

Newsletter Notices: Please forward by Wednesday evening any items for the Newsletter to frjoeegan@gmail.com.

Tax Relief Donations: I want to express my very sincere thanks to all who participated in this scheme. It has been a very good help in supporting the finances of the parish. You will have received a letter recently inviting you to continue in the scheme for the next five years. You may hand in your response at the office in Holycross or at Parochial House, Boherlahan. If you have not been part of the scheme and would like to be, please let me know. May God reward you all for your generosity and kindness.

Parish Pastoral Team: Last Tuesday night we had a meeting of representatives of the three other parishes in our Combination. Each parish shared their plans for the coming months. We, here in Boherlahan, hope to distribute the New Testament to every home during Lent. We also hope to have our Faith Walk from Ardmayle Church to Boherlahan Church on Good Friday. A possible joint effort by the four parishes was suggested. We will discuss this at our next meeting.

First Collection: Our First Collection for 2024 will be taken up this weekend. This collection would traditionally be for Peter’s Pence (Green Envelope). This Collection enables Pope Francis to help the poorer and most vulnerable people in our world. My sincere thanks to you all for your goodness and loyalty.

Spring Welcome.

God of Creation, the coming of Spring awakens new hope in all of us.

As we observe new life stirring in the wintered clay of recent times, it reminds us of your fresh call to all of us to care, to share and to bear.

Let us hear your reassuring voice reminding us of your goodness and love at work in our lives.

Give us the energy of Spring to welcome new growth, new challenges and new love into our lives.

Walk with us and may your Spirit renew the face of the earth. Amen.

Peace Blessing: May the God of Peace be with you, taking away your fears and doubts, and may the mantle of your Peace cover those who are troubled and anxious. May the blessing of Peace be upon you. Amen.
