THE NEW TESTAMENT – THE GOOD NEWS

A copy of the New Testament is being delivered to all households during the coming weeks. We would encourage you to read and reflect on some passages from this frequently and to leave it so that other family members may do the same.

  • In the months ahead, it is hoped that a weekly or monthly prayer meeting including Bible study will be established in the parish.
  • To launch this initiative, a meeting is planned to be held in Dualla Hall for Tuesday, March 19th at 8.00 p.m. There will be a guest speaker.

MASS PATH WALK – GOOD FRIDAY, 29th MARCH, 2.00 p.m. – ARDMAYLE TO BOHERLAHAN

In conjunction with Ardmayle Heritage Society, the walk via the Mass path route from Ardmayle to Boherlahan Church will again take place this year – (beginning at 2.00 p.m. sharp). Fr. Egan and the Parish Pastoral Team invite all to be part of this Pilgrim walk arriving at Boherlahan Church at 3.00 p.m. for the Good Friday Ceremonies. In particular, we invite parents, and children in our three Primary schools receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion in May, to come. It will mark a special event in the life of your child/children at one of the major celebrations in the Church’s year. Children from each school, as well as parishioners, will read pieces as we pause for reflection on the walk.

                                                                    ALL WELCOME

EARLY SUMMER

We are also planning to have an event in conjunction with other organisations in the parish in the early summer. It is envisaged having a Care of the Earth element included.

A CHANGING CHURCH – LAY LED MINISTRY

We are all aware of the lack of availability of clergy to fill the many roles required of them. Already, parishes have been grouped together to facilitate the sharing of duties by the priests when the need arises as well as on other occasions.

Traditionally, many roles were, in fact, carried out by the laity. We have many parishioners already involved in lay ministry: Eucharistic ministers, Readers, Collectors, Choir, Altar Society, Distributors,  a Legion of Mary visiting and welcoming group, Sacristans etc. The Pastoral Team appeals to other parishioners to become involved as supports for families – for example: Baptism preparation for parents bringing a child for Baptism, and for a Bereavement Group. Training in these areas will be given.

More information on all of the above in our weekly parish newsletter and on the parish website: boherlahandualla.ie during the year.

Thank you.
