Annual Christmas Party – report from Seán Trainor.
A joyous occasion for the Parishioners of Boherlahan and Dualla.
Once again Boherlahan Parochial Hall provided another joyous occasion for the Parishioners of Boherlahan and Dualla. On Sunday the 11th of December 2016 we celebrated the Annual Christmas Party. This is a fantastic Parish event where Parishioners from all corners in Boherlahan and Dualla come together and celebrate.
Approximately 100 people attended. Mass was celebrated at 1:30pm by Fr. Egan. This was followed afterwards by a 4 course meal, Bingo, and music on the day by "Golden Sound". Rumour has it there was also a small drop of "The Crater" provided to anyone who asked for it. There were spot prizes for various things, e.g. 1st person up with an odd pair of socks on, 1st two people up who live nearest to each other, and many others that provided fun on the day. Many new dance moves were seen on the floor, from waltz to hip hop. It was a joyful occasion with many great stories told on the day.
This event is run yearly and three years ago after a hard working committee retired, it was decided to get a catering company in to provide a good substantial meal on the day. This indeed took much of the hard work out of this event, which many of the ladies spent weeks preparing food for in days gone by. A committee fundraised for this event, and many thanks to the generous sponsors who donated funds and spot prizes. Our local branch of the Order Of Malta provided much assistance on the day; their workers are indeed a hidden gem in the Parish. Overall it was a great success, and we look forward to it again in December 2017.
