Tue 9 Nov is the feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica. The Church, in every place, strives to be a mother to all God’s people.

Wed 10 Nov is the memorial of St Leo the Great (d. 461), pope and doctor of the Church. He defended the primacy of the See of Peter.

Thu 11 Nov is the memorial of St Martin of Tours (316-97) bishop. He is a Patron of France.

Diocesan Pastoral Plan: This plan was launched recently and it gives guidelines on future developments in the Diocese. We hope to call a meeting early in November to discuss and plan how our parish here can play their part.  We also plan to distribute some literature on the plan “Seeds of Hope” in the coming weeks.

November Masses for the Dead:  Every November our thoughts and prayers turn to our loved ones who have died. Our faith tells us that our prayers and Masses can help them. The November envelopes are available in the porches of the churches. We ask you to write in the names and hand them in as soon as possible. In collecting your envelope, if you know a neighbour or neighbours who would appreciate an envelope, please take one for them.

Advent Scripture Course: ‘In God we live and move and have our being.’ A Scripture Course exploring the Acts of the Apostles with Sr Therese Fitzgerald has been organized over six nights. Further details are available on the notice in the porch of the church. Register at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ActsOfTheApostles . €15 contribution requested. Everyone is welcome.

Trócaire Emergency Appeal:  We have received word from Trócaire of their dire need for help in supporting the poor and vulnerable in different parts of our world. If you would like to make a contribution to this worthy cause, please drop the envelope in the Collection Box. There are some envelopes in the porch.

Covid and Safety in Church: Sensible hygiene measures and the use of face coverings are among the ways in which people’s health can be protected and all can feel confident in gathering in church. We hope to return this weekend to the distribution of Holy Communion at its proper time rather than at the end of Mass.

Community Website: DBB Athletic Club competed on the last three Sundays of October in Cross-Country events at County and Munster levels. www.boherlahandualla.ie has reports and photos from all the races. Please send any material for the community website to editor@boherlahandualla.ie

Cashel and Emly Pope John Paul II Awards: Calling all parishes and schools to support the Pope John Paul II Awards initiative in our Diocese. If you have a secondary school student(s) from TY year upwards, who is actively involved in the faith life of the parish/school (or might be interested in doing so), why not encourage them to sign up for the Pope John Paul II Award. The Award can be completed over the course of 12 -16 months through voluntary activity in parish and community. Fr. Vincent Stapleton, the Diocesan Director would only be delighted to visit your parish and assist with the setting up of the Award. Our new diocesan plan – Seeds of Hope – calls us all to encourage the youth of our diocese to get involved. This is a great way to do so.

SAFEGUARDING NEWS: I wish to inform you that the Archdiocese of Cashel & Emly has invited the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland (NBSCCCI) to conduct a review of its current child safeguarding practices.
