Diocesan Pastoral Plan: This plan was launched recently and it gives guidelines on future developments in the Diocese. We hope to call a meeting as soon as possible to discuss and plan how our parish here can play its part.  We also plan to distribute some literature on the plan “Seeds of Hope” in the coming weeks.

Newsletter Notices: please forward by Wednesday evening any items for the newsletter to either of the priests or at the usual email address: boduparish@gmail.com These will be included in the online newsletter which will be posted each week on www.boherlahandualla.ie during the pandemic restrictions.

Advent Scripture Course: ‘In God we live and move and have our being.’ A Scripture Course exploring the Acts of the Apostles with Sr Therese Fitzgerald has been organized over six nights. Further details are available on the notice in the porch of the church. Register at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ActsOfTheApostles . €15 contribution requested. Everyone is welcome.

Cashel and Emly Pope John Paul II Awards: If you are a secondary school student from TY year upwards, who is willing to be involved in your parish/school, why not participate in the Pope John Paul II Award. Fr Vincent Stapleton, the Diocesan Director, would only be delighted to visit your parish and assist with the setting up of the Award. Our new diocesan plan – Seeds of Hope – calls us all to encourage the youth of our diocese to get involved. This is a great way to do so.

Lay Pastoral Ministry and Leadership Course: One of the actions emerging from the diocesan pastoral plan Seeds of Hope is supporting and guiding lay people in leadership and pastoral ministry. The Archdiocese is offering each parish two places on a two-year certificate programme in Lay Pastoral Ministry and Leadership. For further information please email pastoral.office@cashel-emly.ie or contact Katherine 086 1033761 or Sadie 086 1033763. There will be an information on Zoom on Monday 6 December, repeated on Thursday 9 December, 7.30pm – 9pm each night. If you would like to join the Information Night, please contact either of the phone numbers given above.

Ninth Collection: This was traditionally the Priests’ Christmas Collection, and it will be taken up next weekend. We sincerely thank all who support our parish collections.

Boherlahan-Dualla End of Year Parish Report: The annual Parish Report is ready for distribution and is available in the sacristy of the church. In the report you will find the Parish Calendar, the End of Year Letter, a Financial Statement and a packet of envelopes for each week or a single envelope incorporating all collections. We express our sincere and heartfelt thanks for your support, your friendship and your loyalty. Every year different people from the parish help in the distribution of the envelopes. If you would like to help in this work, please come to the sacristy after Mass and pick up the envelopes for your townland or estate. This will be a great help to us. We are also very grateful to all those who helped us in the preparation of the Report.

Covid and Safety in Church

  1. We ask those coming into the church to wear a face covering.
  2. We again encourage you to follow the direction of the stewards/ushers at each Mass.
  3. Please sanitize your hands entering and leaving the church and at all times respect appropriate distancing.
  4. The Collection Box is in the porch of the Church if you wish to make a contribution.
  5. At the end of each Mass, we are hoping for volunteers to help in sanitizing the pews and seats. Some cloths and sanitizing liquid are available in the church.
  6. We ask everyone to use good common sense in respecting all the protocols. We thank you for your wonderful cooperation thus far.

A thought for Advent: ‘The journey of Advent is to kneel where the knees of the ages have knelt! The pilgrim’s path makes all places holy…The way of Christmas is through all the corners, and streets and places of these days, and everything can be made holy—the shopping, the office party, the dinner for the friends, the cards written, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. All of December life is holy just because the God we call Father sent the Son, a small baby, to us. We will kneel at the manger…with hearts filled with memories, hopes, grief and joys. With the joy of family and friends, and the whole Christian world.’ (Donal Neary SJ)
