We congratulate all the children on reaching a significant milestone on their journey of life. We thank the teachers and the parents for their patience, cooperation and help. Sincerest congratulations and prayerful good wishes to all involved.

October-Month of the Missions: We are asked to remember in our prayers this month the work of priests, religious and lay volunteers working on the Missions. Sunday 24 October is World Mission Sunday. On that day we will take up a collection for the Missions.

Diocesan Pastoral Plan: This plan was launched recently and it gives guidelines on future developments in the Diocese. We hope to call a meeting towards the end of October to discuss and plan how our parish here can play its part.  We also plan to distribute some literature on the plan Seeds of Hope in the coming weeks.

Boherlahan/Dualla Historical Journal 2021: This year’s issue contains many photographs, images of memorabilia and maps. It has nineteen articles and 244 pages. In Cashel it is available at the following outlets: Hall’s Daybreak, Friar St., O’ Dwyer Butchers, Friar St., Ely’s Centra, The Green and Texaco Filling Station, Dublin Rd.  It is available in Thurles at Bookworm, 1 Parnell St.

Community Website: www.boherlahandualla.ie has a photo of the presentation of a very generous cheque from Dualla Ploughing Association’s Threshing Day and Auction to the South Tipperary Hospice. Please send any material for the community website to editor@boherlahandualla.ie

October is by tradition the month of the Rosary. It is a time to reconsider the great value of praying together as a family. The Irish Bishops once wrote: ‘The family that prays together stays together.’ Rosary will be recited at Dualla Grotto on each Sunday of October at 2.00pm. On this Sunday 10 Oct, Coastal Rosary Sunday, it will be recited in union with groups gathered in coastal areas of Ireland with the prayer intention Life and Faith.

October: Safeguarding Month for the Archdiocese: With the good news that our churches are open, safeguarding checks continue to take place to ensure and maintain a safe environment. In the next few weeks the 2021 Audit will be sent out to the parish and the Parish Safeguarding Reps for completion and return.

Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. (St Alphonsus de Liguori)

Prayer to St Roch (Protector against infectious diseases)

O Blessed St Roch, Patron of the sick, look with mercy on those who suffer illness. Your power was so great when you were in this world, that by the sign of the Cross, many were healed of their diseases. Now that you are in heaven, your power is no less. Offer to God our intentions and tears and obtain for us the physical and spiritual health we seek. This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. St Roch: Pray for us, that we may be relieved from all diseases of body and soul.

Missionary Prayer

Christ has no body now on earth but yours,

No hands but yours, no feet but yours,

Yours are the eyes through which

Christ’s compassion is to look out to the world.

Yours are the feet by which he is to go about doing good.

And yours are the hands by which he is to bless us now.

(St Teresa of Ávila)
