Boherlahan N.S. Walk For Water
Boherlahan N.S. Walk For Water
For all of us, safe drinking water is only a few steps away, just turn on the tap at home, school or at work, and there it is. In many countries, however, kids must walk an average distance of 6 km each day to get drinking water! Last Sunday, April 19th 200 pupils, parents staff and future pupils of Scoil San Isadóir, Boherlahan walked 6 km while carrying water from Ardmayle. They did this to raise awareness in our community of the plight of these children worldwide. It is part of the “Green Flag” campaign to inform and involve community. The pupils are learning to use water wisely, to appreciate what we have and not take it for granted. A donation has been sent to a school in Kenya to buy a water pump for the school. Thank you to all who walked and to all who supported on the day.
