We have had a busy period for community games in the parish. Starting with indoor soccer on the 9th of February, we entered two teams into the tournament held in Thurles. Initially U13 boys were up and had a very challenging match against Cloughjordan. The teams were level at half time but unfortunately, in the second half, Cloughjordan piled on the pressure and won. Cloughjordan went on to eventually win out U13 boys competition. The Boherlahan Dualla team were Sean Moynihan, Darragh Heffernan, Ben Kirby, Ryne Bargary, Daire O Donnell, Pawel Zakowicz, Tadhg O Donnell and Brian Gleeson. Later the U10 Girls were in a final against St Flannans/Bornea. From the start, the result was never in doubt as the girls were extremely strong and organised and ended up 8-1 winners! They are now county champions and will represent Tipperary at the Munster Finals in Tralee on 20th April. The Boherlahan Dualla girls U10 are Blaithin Shelley, Neasa Dwan, Aoife O Donnell, Robyn Leahy, Grace Power, Sophie Moynihan, Leah O Connell and Abbie Horgan. The teams were greatly aided by the coaching of Annette, Jimmy and Melissa, as indoor soccer has very specific rules and techniques and both teams showed this expertise at the tournament. Many thanks to the players’ parents who facilitated their practice sessions in Golden and Littleton. Thanks also to Tommy and Anne Flanagan for enabling the use of the complex. Finally, thanks to the Juvenile GAA club for the loan of jerseys for the teams.

The following Friday 15th February, the County Community Games Talent competition was held in Boherlahan Hall. We had enthusiastic participation from eleven representatives from the parish – all of whom received medals. Eabha Ryan won silver in modern dance U16, Cian Fitzgerald won silver in solo music U16 and Aaron Fitzgerald won silver in U12 music. Niall Fitzgerald won gold in U12 music and went on with his brothers Cian and Aaron to win gold in U16 group music. The Boherlahan Dualla comedy/drama sketch group of Mollie Maher, Roisin Heffernan, Darragh Heffernan, Ruth O Connell, Charlie Lynch and Aaron Fitzgerald won gold also. Finally Sophie Moynihan and Sarah Meehan won gold for the group dance U12. All the gold medallists go on to represent Tipperary at the National Community Games Winter Finals in UL in May. Many thanks to Bernie Fitzgerald and the Parish Council for facilitating the use of the hall both on the night, and for rehearsals. Thank you to the Ladies Football Club for running the shop. Thanks to all who helped in preparation of the hall and for providing refreshments. Again, thanks to the parents for preparing the competitors.

The next event was the community games quiz U14 on 22nd February in Thurles. We had two teams entered, Daire O Donnell, Darragh Heffernan and Rory Crosse and Roisin Heffernan, Ruth O Connell and Dara Crosse. Both teams did very well and gained great experience as they are still quite young for this competition.

On Sunday 24th, Alex Wade represented Boherlahan Dualla in U12 boys Freestyle and Roisin Shelley in the girls U12 Freestyle. Both had excellent swims at this extremely competitive swimming competition.

Next up were the Art and Handwriting competitions. The principals and teachers of the three parish schools give huge assistance in running these events at parish level. Practically every child in our schools enters the art competition. The handwriting competition is for U10 and U12 age categories. All the entries were collected from the schools and sent to independent judges to pick the winners. The standard of the entries are amazing. The first 2 entries selected in each age category go on to represent Boherlahan Dualla at the county final on 9th March in Thurles. Many thanks to Annette O Donnell, our secretary, who liaised with the secretaries of surrounding parishes, to ensure that any children in our schools from Cashel, Holycross or Moycarkey parishes could also participate.

The winners were:
