1916 Re-Enactment of All Ireland Final v Tullaroan:
As part of Thurles Sports Fest, Boherlahan Dualla GAA Club has been invited to stage a re-enactment of the 1916 All Ireland Final v Tullaroan.
The two teams, wearing costumes of the era, will assemble at Lar na Páirce at 6 pm. From there they will parade to the Sarsfield’s Centre accompanied by horse-drawn carriages, pipers and other period costumes and equipment. At 7.00pm a short introduction to the festival will be given and at 7.10pm a match between the U12 teams of Boherlahan and Tullaroan will take place. The big match will begin at 7.30pm and will run for 30 minutes. This will involve as far as possible relatives of those who played in 1916 taking to the field of play with the old style hurleys with Archbishop Kieran O Reilly throwing in the ball.
Irish TV will also be present at the launch recording a segment for Tipperary County Matters. The Tipperary Rose, Fiona O Sullivan will be present and will help to launch the festival on the evening.
Come along and enjoy the spectacle or join in and parade with the teams this Friday, 1st July!! All are welcome.
