Boherlahan Dualla Community Games Athletics
A Fantastic Turnout of 112 Children
On Thursday 26th April, Boherlahan Dualla Community Games athletics evening was held at the GAA field in Boherlahan. As the primary aim of Community Games is to encourage participation, a fantastic turnout of 112 children took part. The races ranged from 60m sprint for U6 up to 800m for U14, with the added novelty of hurdles races for U10 and U14 and ball throw for U12.
Thanks to the huge help and organisation of the committee and volunteers, the evening was a huge success and every participant received a medal for their great efforts and sportsmanship.
The Boherlahan Dualla Community Games committee would like to thank Boherlahan Dualla GAA club and Anne and Tommy Flanagan for the use of the field. Very special thanks to John Foley, Jimmy Fitzgerald, Thomas Quirke and Willie Joe Dwyer for setting up the field for the event. Thank you to Ann Ryan and the Ladies Football club who ran the shop. Thank you to the parish schools for aiding in registration and encouraging participation. The hurdles were kindly loaned to us by Moycarkey Coolcroo AC. Given the talent on display in the parish, the two local athletics clubs of Moycarkey Coolcroo AC and Dundrum AC both have excellent juvenile clubs which would gladly welcome new members!
